Alberta Wilson

Jan. 27, 1923 — April 21, 2018

Alberta Missouri Wilson, 95, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Russell, Kentucky native was born Jan. 27, 1923, the daughter of the late Charles and Addie Lewis.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Russell Wilson, who passed away in 1997.
Alberta attended Hecla Schools and was a former employee for Kresge, where she worked for 15 years. She was a past member of Daughters of America and a member of the Rock Hill Garden Club. She was a member of Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Shelia Kay Wilson; four brothers, Charles Stapleton, Oscar Stapleton, Roy Stapleton and Andy Stapleton; four sisters, Goldie Baker McGovery, Della Baker, Carrie Stephenson and Virgie Bishop; and a very close cousin, Wilma Doyle.
She is survived by a nephew, Ronnie (Nancy) Bishop; a niece: Barbara (Bob) Murnahan; Teri and Kari Penrod, whom she helped raise; a cat, Sweetie; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Mike Long officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. To offer the family condolences, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

James Pemberton

James Douglas “Doug” Pemberton, 60, of Franklin Furnace, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Jim Harper and Dr. Dennis Hankins officiating. Graveside services will follow at Haverhill Cemetery. Visitation will be noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Hazel McDonald

Hazel Alice McDonald, 69, of Chesapeake, died Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia.

Brenda Smart

Brenda F. Smart, 59, of Proctorville, died Monday, April 23, 2018, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Bill Smart. There will be no services. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Margie Progler

Margaret “Margie” Lucas Progler, of Vancouver, Washington, formerly of Ironton, died Sunday, April 8, 2018. She was the widow of Harry Progler and graduated from Ironton High School, class of 1944. She was cremated and there will be no funeral service.

 

Carlos Kipp

Carlos Eugene Kipp, 75, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Saturday, April 21, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville.
