Lady Hornets clinch share of OVC title

COAL GROVE — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets have a share of the Ohio Valley Conference for now.
Another win over Gallipolis will give them the title outright.
Kasey Murphy outdueled the Blue Angels’ Hunter Copley as Coal Grove took a 3-2 win on Tuesday.
Murphy struck out six, walked one and gave up five hits. Copley also struck out six, walked one and she gave up eight hits.
Coal Grove took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
With one out, Gracie Riley singled and Murphy slammed a two-run homer.
Gallipolis got a run in the second when Malerie Stanley singled, Chasity Adams put down a sacrifice bunt, Copley walked and Allie Young reached on an error.
The Lady Hornets made it s3-1 in the third inning.
Riley singled, went to third on two wild pitches and scored when Lauren Crum reached on an error.
Gallipolis cut the deficit to 3-2 in the fifth when Bailey Young doubled and came home on an error.
Lauren Meyer and Riley each went 2-4 for Coal Grove.
Alex Barnes was 2-3 for Gallipolis.
