Edna Bailey

Edna May Bailey, 85, of Franklin Furnace, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Bailey was born Aug. 26, 1932, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late James W. and Minnie (Williams) Gannon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joseph W. Bailey on April 24, 1999.
Mrs. Bailey attended Coal Grove schools and was a retired housekeeper for the Lawrence County Health Department, retiring in 1998 after 25 years of service. She was a member of Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Joseph “Buttons” Bailey, Sonny Bailey and David Bailey; daughter, Debbie Bailey; grandson, Shawn Collins; great-granddaughter, Autumn Wood; son-in-law, Stan Collins; sister, Carol Wilson; and two brothers, James Gannon and Bob Gannon.
She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca K. Bailey Collins, of Caledonia; two sons, Willard (Genie) Bailey, of Franklin Furnace, and James “Happy” Bailey, of Hanging Rock; son-in-law, John R. Collins, of Caledonia; daughter-in-law, Linda Bailey; 18 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Pine Grove Cemetery, Ironton, with pastor Kenny Klaiber officiating. There will be no public visitation and Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
