PEDRO — Visitors to Wayne National Forest will see a change in fees for camping and to use the off-highway vehicles, horse and mountain-bike trails.

Two weeks ago, the Forest Service’s Eastern Region Recreation Resource Advisory Committee approved proposal changes fees for both trail use and camping.

The proposal eliminates trail permits and fees for horse and mountain-bike trail users. The seasonal permit fee for off-highway vehicles is being reduced from $45 to $35 and the 3-day permit from $24 to $20. The daily permit was eliminated.

Changes to camping fee changes are pending the Regional Forester’s approval.

Once approved, the fee proposal will adjust the base camping fee to $15 per night across WNF. Campsites with electrical hook-ups would include an additional $5 fee.

The fee changes affect Iron Ridge, Leith Run, Burr Oak Cove, and Stone Church Horse Campgrounds. At Burr Oak Cove Campground, campsites will be charged $10 per night when the water is turned off and for walk-in campsites.

The following campgrounds will be charged $10 per night: Hune Bridge, Lane Farm, Ring Mill, and Lamping Homestead Campgrounds.
