Redwomen celebrate senior night with win

PEDRO — The seniors were in the spotlight and they performed.
Senior Maddie Harper went 4-for-4 with two runs batted in and fellow senior Taylor Hall’s walk-off triple ended the game as the Rock Hill Redwomen beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 12-2 in six innings on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.
Fairland got a run in the top of the first when Adrianna Hoffman singled, Emily Bowen reached on a fielder’s choice and Libby Judge doubled.
Rock Hill came back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning on singles by Rileigh Morris and Harper, a steal of third by Morris and Kenzie Hanshaw’s sacrifice bunt.
Fairland regained the lead with a run in the third on walks to Hoffman, Morgan Fridley, Bowen and Judge’s sacrifice fly.
But Rock Hill took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the inning.
Morris singled, Kylee Howard was hit by a pitch, Harper had an RBI single and Haleigh Rowe a two-run single.
The lead went to 7-2 in the fourth.
Baylie Harrah singled and Morris reached on an error for a run. Howard had an RBI single and Harper doubled in the third run.
Rock Hill got two runs in the fifth on singles by Keilie Adams and Harrah, a ground out by Sam Stamper and Morris’ two-run single.
The Redwomen capped the scoring with three runs in the sixth.
Harper singled and Hanshaw cranked a two-run homer. An out later, Adams singled again and scored on Hall’s triple to end the game.
Morris had a big game for Rock Hill as she went 3-4 with two RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases. Adams also hit well going 2-4 with two runs.
Howard got the win as she gave up only five hits, struck out two and walked three.
Hoffman was 2-2 and Judge 1-2 with two RBI for Fairland.
Rock Hill plays at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Wellston in the Division III sectional tournament.
