Oscar Massie Jr.

Jan. 24, 1947 — May 14, 2018

Oscar Massie Jr., 71, of Fostoria, passed away at 6:12 p.m. Monday, May 14, 2018, at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.
He was born Jan. 24, 1947, in Ironton to the late Oscar and Goldie (McGlone) Massie Sr.
Surviving are six children, Rebecca Masse, of Ironton, Terry (Raquel) Massie, of Kenton, Randy (Amy) Massie, of Alvada, and Michael (Emily Herr) Massie, Charlotte Massie and Matthew Massie, all of Fostoria; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, George (Shirley) Massie, of Rush, Kentucky, and Frank (Ann) Massie, of Proctorville; former wife, Shelia Jenkins, of Ironton; and former wife and companion, Jennie Birch, of Fostoria.
Oscar was a lifelong trucker, having driven for SAIA LTL and Freight, Pruitt Trucking and The Connection Company.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at Hoening and Son Funeral Home, Fostoria. Funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Sharrett presiding. Burial will follow in Scott-Trinity Cemetery, Risingsun, with a luncheon gathering then taking place at Scott-Trinity United Methodist Church. Memorials are suggested to Bridge Hospice. L. Jenene Roszell

March 24, 1936 — May 12, 2018

L. Jenene Roszell, 82, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018, at her residence. The Superior native was born March 24, 1936, a daughter of the late Alfred J. Jr. and Dorothy Vickers Artis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Earl Roszell, who passed away April 8, 1994.
Mrs. Roszell was a graduate of Ironton High School and a homemaker. She enjoyed her plants and going to rummage sales and loved spending time with her family. She attended Elm Street Nazarene Church.
She is survived by one son, Clifford “Cliff” E. Roszell Jr., of Mobile, Alabama; three daughters, Linda R. Pennington, Cheryl “Cheri” E. Massie, both of Ironton, and Darla D. Mock, of Enterprise, Alabama; 12 grandchildren, Tara Strait, Derek Roszell, Brent Roszell, Amy Pennington, Travis Pennington, Heather Lyons, Ryan Spangler, Megan Styron, Micki White, Hannah Thompson, Beth Thompson and Ashley Mock; 19 great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Rose Newman, Gail Seagraves, Brenda Beaver Hopkins and Donna Taylor.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Cecil Lees

Feb. 16, 1945 — Dec. 26, 2017

Cecil S. (Teek) Lees passed from this earth to the arms of Jesus Christ our Savior on Dec. 26, 2017, in Tampa, Florida.
Teek was born on Feb. 16, 1945, to Geraldine Boggs and Howard Lees. He and his brother were adopted by grandparents, Cecil and Bertha Boggs.
Teek is preceded in death by his mother; grandfather; grandmother; and his loving wife, Janice.
He is survived by brothers, Clyde (LeeAnn) Lees, of Billings, Montana; Rob (Beth) Caines and Pete (Debbie) Caines, both of Ashland, Kentucky; and sister, Dee Caines (Terry) Maddox, of Ashland, Kentucky. Teek is also survived by his former wife, Ellen Walters, whose help in his final days is so very much appreciated.
Teek’s memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sugar Creek Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Hankins presiding. Burial of his remains will be next to his loving wife, Janice, in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Calling hours will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Hazel Yates

Jan. 5, 1930 — May 1, 2018

Hazel Lewis Yates, 88, of Okeechobee, Florida, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, in Okeechobee. The former Lawrence County and Marion County resident was born Jan. 5, 1930. She was the daughter of the late John and Annabelle Rowe Lewis, and was also preceded in death by her husband, Forrest R. Yates. She was also of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Margaret (Hobart) Kimble, Gertrude (Jesse) Matney, Juanita (Benny) Fraley, Ruby (Willis) Jordan and Myrtle (John) Getteys; and three brothers, Edward (Maxine) Lewis, Miles (Jackie) Lewis and Fred (Fay) Lewis.
She is survived by two sons, Walter Richard Yates, of Okeechobee, Florida, and Forrest (Trish) Yates, of Marion; one daughter, Dianna Yates Little, of Marion; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Larry Comer officiating. Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
