South Point Elementary students show off musical skills
Spring concert took place Monday
SOUTH POINT — Parents and family packed into South Point Elementary School’s cafeteria on Monday to see a performance from the school’s primary students.
The school hosted its annual spring concert, featuring kindergarten through second grade students.
The theme for the event was folk songs, and, led by music instructor Jill Young on piano, the students performed renditions of “She’ll be Comin’ Round the Mountain,” “My Bonnie,” “Old Dan Tucker,” “Oh Susannah” and “The Crawdad Song.”
Bill Christian, the school’s administrative assistant, said the school hosts the concert at the end of each academic year and that the folks songs all had an Appalachian theme.
