PINE GROVE — It’s easy to see why one golfer had a “Gleim” in her eye.
Shirley Gleim posted wins in each of the past two weeks of competition in the Ironton Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association of the Ironton Country Club.
Last week, hostess Betty Fraley served the breakfast treats and set up the daily golfing events.
When Fraley announced the winners during lunch, Gleim and Margaret Donley had racked up two wins each while Dora Carmon won the other event.
Two weeks ago, Pat Riggs handled the hostess duties and there were four different winners for the day’s events.
This time Joyce Lewis came away with two wins while Gleim, Pat Lambert and Becky Dillow won an event.
The group meets at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday for a brief business meeting followed by golfing events at 10. Next Tuesday’s will have Gleim serving as the hostess.
The handicap tournament will continue throughout the summer months.
Anyone interested in joining the Ladies Nine Hole Golf Association is welcome and women do not have to be members of the Ironton County Club to be part of the group.
