Area track athletes fall short in state meet bid

NEW CONCORD — The heights and times were good, but they still felt short.
Area track athletes gave solid efforts during the second day of the Division II regional track meet at Muskingum University last Saturday.
However, no one finished among the top four places to earn a berth in the state meet to be held Friday and Saturday at Jesse Owens’ Memorial Stadium in Columbus.
Chesapeake’s Cecil Fletcher qualified for the state meet last Thursday when he finished fourth in the long jump.
Fletcher also placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.95 seconds.
Rock Hill’s Jasson Aguilera was seventh in the 3200-meter run with a 10:08.69 time.
Chesapeake’s Dalton Nida placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles with a 16.07 time.
Rock Hill’s Eli Baker was 15th in the 1600 meters at 5:05.10. Teammate Gage Kidd was ninth in the 300-meter hurdles at 41.56.
Fairland’s 4×100 relay team of Wyatt Morris, Blaine Cremeans, Robbie McFarland and Ty Staten ran a 45.78 to finish 15th.
McFarland cleared 12-6 and finished eighth in the pole vault. Staten was 12th in the 200 meters at 24.02 seconds.
The Panthers’ 4×400 relay team of Josh Ramey, Kamren Harless, Gabriel Johnson and Fletcher was 11th with 3:35.78 time. Brady Wilson was 10th in the pole vault at 12-feet.
In the girls’ meet, the Fairland Lady Dragons’ 4×200 relay team of Allie Marshall, Melia Tubbs, Karli Fuller and Ciarra Brown was 11th with a 1:51.52 time.
Fairland’s McKenna Pannell was 11th in the 1600 meters with a 5:51.91 clocking and 13th in the 3200 at 12:53.19. Marshall was 11th in the 200 meters at 27.25 seconds.
South Point’s Alexia Sharp was 14th in the long jump with a leap of 14-9.5.
