Portsmouth — Shawnee State athletics is happy to announce the official schedule for the 2018 Gene Bennett Classic hosted by Shawnee State University.
This year, the GBC will see 14 of the top amateur baseball teams in the region descend upon Portsmouth for four great days of baseball starting June 14 and running through June 17.
The 14 teams will play four games each over the course of the first two days with games beginning Thursday, June 14 at 9 a.m.
After that, all teams in the GBBC will be seeded according to their record (tie breakers have been outlined) for single elimination play that will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.
The Gene Bennett Classic is a wood bat tournament with seven inning games and a 10-run rule will apply to all games if necessary. During single elimination play, the home team will be based on higher seed.
The schedule by field and by team is as follows. The schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.
