You can sample some of the best of local eateries with the return of A Taste of Ironton this Saturday.

This is the fourth year of the event and it will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Ironton Farmers Market on Second Street. The Taste of Ironton is a project of Ironton aLive.

Ironton aLive executive director Sam Heighton said that the list is expected to keep growing.

He said Taste of Ironton always draws a good-sized crowd.

“Everybody likes to eat,” Heighton said, with a laugh. “I think it is successful because of the variety and people get to sample foods from places that they may not have gone to before.”

Ginger Gillenwater, Ironton aLive’s chairwoman, agreed.

“It’s an opportunity to try a restaurant or baker’s food all at one place,” she said. “And it is affordable, you can bring your kids and significant other. For 10 bucks, you get 10 sampling tickets. Really, it is an affordable way to have fun downtown.”

She added that event brings more traffic to the Farmers Market, which is going on at the same time.

“People get to see what the Farmers Market has to offer too,” Gillenwater said. Some of the downtown stores will be having sidewalk sales at the same time.

“It gives people an opportunity to see what downtown has to offer,” she said.

Sample tickets can be purchased at the event on Saturday or ahead of time at Unger’s Shoes, Dick’s Music or Consigned Books.

People who purchase tickets in advance will also get a coupon for a free drink. You then purchase sample food with the coupons you have purchased from the vendors of your choice.
