John Clouse

Dec. 22, 1993 — July 12, 2018

John Oran Clouse, 84, of Ironton, passed away Thursday night, July 12, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Dec. 22, 1933, a son of the late John and Alberta Clouse, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Nancy Hamrick, and grandson, Bradley McWhorter.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Bushbaum, whom he married Sept. 8, 1973; brother Veryl; sister Judy; daughters, Carrie, Heidi and Jo Leigh; grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Bethany and Brianna; and five great grandchildren.
Oran was a graduate of Ironton High School and attended Marshall University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree, he then went on to earn his MBA from Moorehead University. Oran was an employee of Ashland Oil for 35 years, retiring in 1992. He was a proud Navy veteran and served on the board of MRDD for 25 years. In his free time, you would often find Oran working in his yard, caring for his animals and laughing with family and friends.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, with Pastor Charlie Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Rd., Ashland Kentucky 41101. Gene Brammer

Sept. 25, 1939 — July 15, 2018

Gene Brammer, 78, of Greenup, Kentucky, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.
He was born Sept. 25, 1939 in Lawrence County, a son of the late Norman and Grace Ratliff Brammer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Keith F. Brammer; two sisters, Evelyn Long and Rose Stapleton; and one great-grandchild, Jessie Jane Brammer.
He was a purchasing manager for Rage Corporation and a pastor at various churches in the Ironton area. His last pastorate was at LaGrange Freewill Baptist Church in Ironton. He also retired from Marquette Cement in Ironton.
He is survived by his wife, Leola Kay Arbaugh Brammer; one son, Michael (Deborah) Brammer of Columbus; one daughter, Lisa (Melvin) McDaniels, of Greenup, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Austin Brammer, Ayden Brammer, Andrea Povlak, Amber Ochsenbein, Alyssa McDaniels, Kayla Blevins, Dylan Blevins, Hannah Brammer and Wyatt Brammer; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Roy Roach and Bob Chaffins Tuesday at noon at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Burlington. Keith Shope

Oct. 24, 1963 — July 13, 2018

Keith W. Shope, 54, of South Point, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018 at King’s Daughters Medical Center Ashland, Kentucky.
He was born Oct. 24, 1963, a son of Lloyd Ray Shope, of Ironton, and the late Janice Fisher Shope. He was in retail sales for Ntelos and was a longtime member of Perry Township Fire Department, who will provide honors.
He is survived by his wife, Penny E. Reaper Shope, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kristina Dickess; a special nephew, Christopher Shope; one sister, Teresa (Rob) Pancake of Ironton; two brothers, Kevin (Kathy) Shope, of Northwood, and Kyle (Crystal) Shope, of Ironton.
He was also preceded in death by two nephews, Ryan Shope and Bradley Shope.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Donna Whitehead

Aug. 31, 1942 — July 13, 2018

Donna Jean Whitehead, 75, of Willow Wood, passed away July 13, 2018 at Crystal Care Nursing Facility.
The Lawrence County native was born Aug. 31, 1942, a wife of the late Homer Whitehead and daughter of the late Clifford Callicoat and Gladys (Massie) Callicoat.
Donna was a 1959 graduate of Waterloo High School and she was a former employee at the Dickess Market in Aid, as well as a homemaker.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Callicoat; three sisters, Mary Watson, Norma Payne, and Barbara Callicoat.
She is survived by three kids, Patricia (Greg) Belville, of Waterloo, Penny Whitehead and Scott (Jo-el) Whitehead, both of Willow Wood; three grandchildren: Shelby (Eric) Davidson, Shawn Belville and Bryce Whitehead; five sisters, Edna Puthoff, of Ironton, Phyllis York, of Michigan, Faye Payton and Alma Miller, both from Kitts Hill, and Nancy Shuff, of South Point.
