Court of Appeals to convene in Lawrence County

The Fourth District Court of Appeals of Ohio is set to convene in Lawrence County on Thursday.

Two appeals from Scioto and Lawrence County will be considered during the session, in the Lawrence County Common Pleas Courtroom at the county courthouse at 9:30 a.m.

Cases will be argued before Presiding Judge Marie M. Hoover, of Portsmouth, and judges William H. Harsha, of Chillicothe, and Peter B. Abele, of Athens.

The court is comprised of the presiding judge and three judges and reviews, all cases, both civil and criminal, heard or tried in lower courts in which a decision is being appealed.

Cases can originate from common pleas, probate, juvenile, municipal or county courts.

The court, for which judges are elected, serves 14 counties in southern Ohio.
