A decade and a half of Rally

Rally on the River kicks off today, celebrating its 15th year in Ironton.
Over the course of its run, the event has brought thousands of bikers and music fans to downtown Ironton for multiple days of music, car shows, poker runs, bike shows and more.
Organizers are expecting a turnout of 20,000 for this year’s rally, which will run through Saturday, followed by a worship service on Sunday morning.
Entertainment for this year will include Horse Burner, Derailed, Facing Fire, Seditious, Black Foot Gypsies, a Van Halen tribute band, Creek Don’t Rise Band, Miss Freddye, Geneva and AC/DC cover band, Thunderstruck, among others.
As usual, funds from the rally, organized by Friends of Ironton, will go into preservation and renovation of the historic Ro-Na Theater downtown.
And the projected attendance, double the city’s population, will be a boost to local businesses.
We commend all involved in putting this event on and congratulate them for the decade and a half milestone.
Here’s hoping for another successful year.
