City Heat to perform at last concert of the season

This week’s Tuesday Night Concert will be the popular group, Christ Temple Youth InsideOut Choir.

“They are out of Huntington,” said Sam Heighton, executive director of Ironton aLive, which puts on the concert series. “They are a really good group we had last year and asked them to come back this year. They bring in a lot of people.”

The concerts are at the Ironton Farmers Market Square in downtown Ironton and start at 6:30. The event is free.

Next week’s concert is the final one for the season and the very popular band City Heat will perform.

“They are a great band, it’s a large group and they have an extremely good vocalist, she can really belt it out” Heighton said. “They are extremely popular and will probably draw one of our biggest crowds.”

He said the concerts are a family-friendly event so people can bring their children. He also recommended bringing a chair since available seating fills up fast.

Heighton said the concert series has done well when the rains hold off. Although the rain didn’t dampen the crowd’s enthusiasm when Rob McNurlin performed on June 19.

The crowd just moved under the bandstand and the band played on.

“We look forward to the next couple of weeks,” Heighton said.

He said on the last night, Ironton aLive would be honoring the sponsors who help fund the concert series.

Concert Sponsors are Perry Distributing of Ironton, Phillips Funeral Home, Glockner of Ironton and Ashland, J & J Maintenance, Servpro of Southern Scioto and Lawrence Counties, Christen Finley, Hometown Preowned Certified and The Ironton Holiday Inn Express.

The producers are Studimo productions and Ironton aLive.
