FORT GAY, W.Va. — Two things kept happening for the Fairland Dragons. The defense kept forcing fumbles and quarterback Joel Lambiotte kept throwing touchdown passes.
The Dragons’ defense forced and recovered six fumbles — four led to touchdowns — and Lambiotte threw six touchdowns passes as Fairland route the Tolsia Rebels 42-0 on Friday in the season opener.
Five different players caught touchdown passes with Reilly Sowards getting two TD grabs.
Lambiotte wasted little time as he connected with Sowards on the first play of the game for a 62-yard scoring strike.
Alec Bruce kicked the first of his six conversions and it was 7-0 just 10 seconds into the game.
Gavin Hunt forced a fumble in the end zone and Fairland then went up 14-0 on a 29-yard touchdown pass to Zeke Ramey with 5:40 on the first quarter clock.
Lambiotte threw a 48-yard scoring pass to Reilly Kazee with 11 minutes on the second quarter clock and it was 21-0.
Ramey then recovered a fumble at the 7:31 mark and Lambiotte turned that into a 32-yard scoring pass to Michael Stitt at the 5:44 mark.
Robbie McFarland caused a fumble and Kyle Rankin recovered with 4:42 left in the third quarter.
Lambiotte hit Sowards with an 8-yard strike 42 seconds later and it was 35-0.
Tevin Taylor then recovered a fumble and Lambiotte connected with Brennen West on a 42-yard pitch and catch with only 26 seconds left in the quarter and it was 42-0.
Blaine Cremeans and Casey Hudson recovered fumbles in the fourth quarter for Fairland.
