Genevieve Howard
Sept. 12, 1936 — Aug. 24, 2018
Genevieve Allen Howard, 81, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Howard was born Sept. 12, 1936, in Lawrence County, a daughter to the late Harvey Ferguson and Inez Blankenship Cremeans.
Mrs. Howard was a graduate of Hanging Rock schools. She was a former activity director for Sunset Nursing Center. She was a standing member of Campbell Chapel Church. Mrs. Howard enjoyed spending time with her family and was a very loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christina Rae Burns; three sisters, Betty Ferguson, Linda Cremeans and Sarah Horn; and six brothers, Ronnie Cremeans, Charles Cremeans, Donald Cremeans and David Cremeans, Dan Ferguson and Jim Ferguson.
She is survived by her children, Donna (Tim) Farley, Wanda Riffe, Harold “Bill” Allen and Michael (Sandy) Allen; her grandchildren, Amy (Dave) Alfrey, Brad Allen, Douglas Riffe, Joshua Allen and Dakota Allen; and her great-grandson, Kristopher Cade. She is also survived by two sisters, Mazie Cremeans and Ruby Delong; and one brother, Chester Cremeans; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Bob Bradley officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Roscoe Holmes Jr.
Roscoe (Rocky) Lee Holmes Jr. was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 20, 2018, at the Ocean Springs Hospital in Ocean Springs, Mississippi after battling a long illness. He died peacefully attended by his sister, Frances, and niece, Jasmine Anderson.
Rocky, as he was best known, graduated from Ironton High School in the Class of 1967. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20-plus years of service. During his military career, he received numerous awards and citations, including awards for Distinguished Service and the Good Conduct Medal, to name a few.
Rocky is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe and Zelma Holmes; and two brothers, Patrick Roscoe and Michael Lee Holmes, of Ironton.
He is survived by sisters, Margaret (Mickey) Henderson, of Baltimore, Maryland, Debra Holmes, of Columbus, and Frances (Clyde), of Columbus; and brother, Edward (Linda) Holmes, of Ironton; as well as nieces, nephews and a host of family and friends.
Friends and family are invited to attend a graveside service for Rocky at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1 in the military section of Woodland Cemetery.
