LLOYD, Ky. — High water flooded the St. Joseph High School soccer field and forced the Lady Flyers to switch their home game to a road game against the Greenup County Lady Musketeers.
As it turned out, the Lady Flyers decided to flood the Greenup net with goals as they posted a 12-2 mercy rule win on Tuesday.
“For the first year back with a girls’ team for St. Joe (in three years), these girls are really playing well together,” said St. Joseph coach Dan Blair.
It didn’t take long for the Lady Flyers to assert their dominance as they scored in the first 20 seconds of the game.
Emma Whaley led St. Joseph with four goals and Bella Whaley had her first hat trick of the season as the duo accounted for seven goals.
Isabella Griffiths celebrated the night with her first two career goals. Chloe Sheridan, Laiken Unger and Lydia Sheridan each scored a goal.
Emma Kay Roark and Sara McGuffin scored goals for the Lady Musketeers.
St. Joseph had 20 shots on goals to 12 for Greenup.
The Lady Flyers visit Portsmouth West at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
