2 receive promotions at Ironton Post

COLUMBUS — Sgt. Nicholas A. Lunsford was promoted to the rank of lieutenant on Sept. 9 and was recognized Monday by Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Training Academy. Lt. Lunsford will remain at his current assignment at the Ironton Post to serve as commander.

Lt. Lunsford began his Patrol career in September 2000 as a member of the 136th Academy Class. He earned his commission in March of the following year and was assigned to the Gallipolis Post.

In 2008, he was selected as Post Trooper of Year. He also earned the Criminal Patrol Award twice. In 2010, he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and transferred to the Ironton Post to serve as an assistant post commander.

Lunsford earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in law enforcement technologies from Ohio University in 2000.

Trooper Brian K. Spackey was promoted to the rank of sergeant on Monday by Colonel Paul A. Pride, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Training Academy. Sgt. Spackey will transfer from his current assignment at the Jackson District Criminal Patrol Unit to serve as an assistant post commander at the Ironton Post.

Sgt. Spackey began his Patrol career in May 2004 as a member of the 142nd Academy Class. He earned his commission in November of that year and was assigned to the Lancaster Post.

In 2016, he earned the Criminal Patrol Award. As a trooper, he also served at the Athens and Chillicothe posts and at the Jackson  District Criminal Patrol Unit as a canine handler.
