SOUTH POINT — Luke Tyree saw an opening and made up his mind that he wasn’t going to stop.
Tyree pushed the ball on a 30-yard spring to score the only goal of the game in the 45th minute of the second half as the South Point Pointers blanked the Wheelersburg Pirates 1-0 in a soccer game on Thursday.
“(Wheelersburg) controlled the first half with possession and won most of the 50-50 chances,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy.
“The second half we adjusted and that helped. We played good defense and possessed the ball more.”
Goalkeeper Jaylon Halfhill had 10 saves for the Pointers (5-5-2).
South Point hosts Chesapeake on Tuesday with the girls’ game at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7:30.
