Showcase for an industry

Farming remains an industry in Lawrence County and, next month, the public will get to see just what is involved in our county as far as agriculture goes.

A Bringing the Farm to You event will take place on Oct. 20 at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds and will feature many local farmers, showcasing their products.

From the Good News Llamas and their spinoff company, Back Porch Fibers, to beekeeping demonstrations to soap making with goats, there will be plenty of processes on display.

And the 4-H Extension office at The Ohio State University will also be doing activities for children.

The event is sponsored by the Lawrence County Farm Bureau and follows the last two years, in which they sponsored a Drive it Yourself farm tour of locations throughout the county. This year, they’re trying the event in a centralized location.

If you are looking for a family-friendly weekend activity to take the family outdoors before cold weather kicks in, we encourage you to drop by the fairgrounds in Rome Township that Saturday.

You will likely discover many interesting things that Lawrence County has to offer.
