Heather Davis

Nov. 14, 1984 — Oct. 6, 2018

Heather Dawn Davis, 33, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, in Lewis County, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Nov. 14, 1984, a daughter of Marjorie Sue Coleman Fyffee, of Coal Grove, and the late John Wesley Fyffe. She is also survived by her husband, William Davis.
Heather was a 2002 graduate of Ironton High School and a home health aide for A&L Home Health Care. She was an advisor with the 4-H Club, where her kids were active members and attended the New Beginnings Fellowship in Westwood, Kentucky.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Haskell and Ella Jean Coleman; and paternal grandparents, Walter and Hazel Fyffe.
In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by five daughters, Haley, Emma, Brooke, Tasha and Leigh Worley; and their father, Jimmy Worley; four sisters, Patricia Kackley, Johnda Fyffe, Cheri (Robert Corbin) Fyffe and Crystal (Charles) Adkins; three nieces, Ansleigh Adkins, Sarah Bentley and Tiffany Shoemaker; and a nephew, Chance Adkins.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Jackie Kackley officiating. Burial will follow in Golden Oaks Cemetery, and visitation will be noon until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Dale Motycka

May 18, 1950 — Oct. 2, 2018

Dale Louis Motycka, 68, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2018, at Select Specialty Hospital.
Dale was born on May 18, 1950, in Columbus, to Helen (Valasek) Motycka and the late Dr. Lewis Motycka. Dale graduated from Ironton St. Joseph High School and attended The Ohio State University. Dale was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and had worked for the Evansville Blind Association.
Surviving Dale are his sons, Matt (Jenna) Motycka, of Evansville, Indiana; his mother, Helen Motycka, of Russell, Kentucky; a sister, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Smith, of Huntington, West Virginia; a brother, Lawrence (Katherine) Motycka, of Lenexa, Kansas; and two grandchildren, Eli and Jacob Motycka.
There was a Mass of Christian burial Friday, Oct. 5 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, and burial followed at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

 

Donald Cannon

Oct. 8, 1925 — Oct. 7, 2018

Donald “Patrick” Cannon, 92, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. The Ironton native was born Oct. 8, 1925, a son of the late Francis E. and Helen L. Graham Cannon. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine A. Koukos Cannon, who passed away Feb. 3, 2018.
Pat attended St. Joseph High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former truck driver for the Maxwell and Matlack Trucking Companies, retiring after 39 years in 1985. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Ironton.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James E. Cannon, John E. Cannon and Michael Cannon; a sister, Helen F. Frazier; and a son-in-law, Dale Simpson.
He is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline Simpson, of Kitts Hill, and Donna (Pete) Hatmaker, of Russell, Kentucky; a sister, Jane Massie; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, with Eric Floyd officiating. There will be no public visitation, and Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.
