Darlene McKenzie

Feb. 12, 1946 — Oct. 7, 2018

Darlene Malone McKenzie, 72, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Lawrence County native was born Feb. 12, 1946, a daughter of the late Forrest and Marie Malone.
Darlene attended Waterloo schools, was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith. She liked to watch TV and loved spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda McKenzie; a granddaughter, Makayla McKenzie; a brother, Ralph Malone; and two sisters, Connie Black and Nina Wheeler.
She is survived by two sons, Carl Lawson, of Boyd County, Kentucky, and Ray Lawson, of Ashland, Kentucky; five daughters, Barbara Burcham, of Coal Grove, Mary Conley, of Mississippi, Lisa Moore, of Portsmouth, Sylvia Anderson, of Chesapeake, and Samantha Scott, of Ironton; two grandsons, Devon McFann and Codee McKenzie, both of Ironton; a lot of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Large, of Pedro; and two sisters, Bertha Knipp and Loretta Cade, both of Lorain.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Aaron Abner officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery, and visitation will be 11 a.m. until he time of the service Saturday at the funeral home. Donald Pennington

Nov. 8, 1937 — Oct. 9, 2018

Donald George Pennington, 80, of South Point, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018, at his residence. The Ironton native was born Nov. 8, 1937, the son of the late Earl Pennington and Goldie Marie Smith Pennington Adkins. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Roberts Pennington, whom he married on May 28, 1962.
Mr. Pennington attended South Point Schools and was a former laborer for Coyne Textile, where he served for 32 years and retired in 1999.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor John Paul Pemberton and pastor Phillip Tomblin officiating. Clyde Nelson Jr.

Clyde William Nelson Jr., 81, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2018, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.
He is survived by his wife, Siratwena “Tena” Nelson; and five children.
Funeral service will be noon Saturday at Christ Temple Church, 2601 Lexington Ave., Ashland, Kentucky, with pastor J.D. Crockrel officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, is assisting the family with arrangements.
