Dennis Murphy Sr.
June 4, 1945 — Oct. 27, 2018

Dennis E. Murphy Sr., 73, of Ironton, went home to his Savior on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018, after a long illness with his family by his bedside. The Ironton native was born June 4, 1945, a son of the late Theodore and Nora Easterling Murphy. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Norma Greene Murphy, whom he married on April 21, 1965.
Dennis attended Ironton City Schools and was a loyal employee for the City of Ironton, retiring in 1990, after 28 years of service. Dennis was saved and baptized in July of 1972, at the City Mission Church in Ironton, where he served his young Christian life, being a Sunday School superintendent, board member and bus driver. Later in life, he attended the First Church of the Nazarene, where he found love of many friends. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard during the Vietnam era.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, May and William Buck.
In addition to his wife, Norma, their love produced two wonderful children, Angela Scott and DJ. With his wife, Rhonda Murphy, they produced four grandchildren, Benjamin (Katie), Joshuae (Gwen), Alicia Murphy and Jessica Scott. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Collin and Mason Murphy, with another great-grandchild on the way. He was one of six siblings, Virginia Reed, Ted Murphy, Janet James, Reba (Jim) Houston and Frank (Christy) Murphy, who all survive. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Lee (Linda) Greene; and sister-in-law, Mary Mowery.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Church of the Nazarene, Ironton, with pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, and 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Fay Jenkins

Joyce “Fay” Jenkins, 87, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. The Ironton native was born June 6, 1931, a daughter of the late Earl and Carmen Butler Sanders.
Fay was a former clerk for Fannin’s Laundromat for more than 30 years, retiring in 2002, and attended the City Mission Church in Ironton for over 36 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Ratliff; a daughter, Lisa Dawn Ratliff; a great-grandson, Aaron Ratliff; two sisters, Christine Fannin and Wanda Metney; and one brother, Don Sanders.
She is survived by three daughters, Kay Townsend and Tammy (Mark) Birchfield, all of Ironton, and Carmen (Bob) Bowles, of Coal Grove; a son, Danny Jay Ratliff, of Ironton; a sister, Rose (David) Patton, of Garrison, Kentucky; a brother, David “Bud” (Linda) Sanders, of Coal Grove; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating.
