Phyllis Cannon

Feb. 7, 1936 — Nov. 13, 2018

Phyllis E. Cannon, 82, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Cannon was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Kanawha County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Carl Lee and Opal Ray (Williams) Propps. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Dallas Cannon, who passed away Feb. 11, 1997.
Mrs. Cannon was a homemaker, who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Eugene and Kenneth Smith; sister, Lena Reese; brother, Donald Reese; and two nephews, Butch Elswick and Carl Reese.
She is survived by a daughter, Sherry (George) Blevins, of Ironton; two sons, Jeffery (Richonda) Smith, of Argillite, Kentucky, and Tony (Karen) Cannon Collinsworth, of Pomeroy; sister-in-law, Mary Reese, of Chesapeake, West Virginia; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Tony Barker officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the Eastern Star Service at 12:45 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mary Thompson

Sept. 14, 1934 — Nov. 14, 2018

Mary E. Thompson, 84, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018, at her residence. The Ironton native was born Sept. 14, 1934, the daughter of the late Thomas “T.J.” and Loretta Gannon Brownstead.
Mary was a graduate of Ironton High School and a former foster grandparent for Ironton City Schools. She is also a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Ironton. Mary loved her four children, nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. These children were her life as she tried to keep everyone on the straight and narrow. She was a person you could always depend on. She was the rock of the family and will not only be missed by her children, but by everyone.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Brownstead; a sister, Elise Kinney; first husband, Dale Cunningham; and second husband, Gene Thompson.
She is survived by three daughters, Terri L. Fritz, of Dublin, Debbie L. Runyan, of Ironton, and Lisa Cunningham, of Ironton; and one son, Thomas (Kathy) Cunningham, of Ironton.

Genevieve Rollyson

Dec. 13, 1925 — Nov. 9, 2018

Genevieve B. Rollyson, 92, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2018. She was born Dec. 13, 1925, in Ironton to the late Lenzy and Bessie (Reed) Belville.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Grayson (2/26/1925) and Robert Belville (8/25/2006).
She graduated from Ironton High School and married James Rollyson and one daughter was born. Her husband, James, was a World War II veteran from 1945-1946. In 1948, a Venetian blind company was opened in their garage. Business grew and, as other products were added, the company moved. In 1956, a plant was built in Sheridan. In 1971, a subsidiary was opened in Lantana, Florida. Both Ohio and Florida operations were sold in 1979. In 1985, a small photography shop was purchased.
Genevieve was the secretary and treasurer of all the corporations and ventures during their lifetime together.
Genevieve is survived by family and friends, and will be missed by all who knew her.
