Edwin Neal

Edwin Lee “Papaw” Neal, 95, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at his residence. Mr. Neal was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Rock Camp, a son to the late William and Mayme (Webb) Neal. He is survived by his loving wife, Edna Mae Sites Neal, whom he married Nov. 2, 1943.
Mr. Neal attended Ironton Schools and was a retired maintenance worker for Alpha Portland Cement Plant, DMI Comp. He loved to hunt and enjoyed woodworking, and was always helping others in any way possible. He was a member of Woodland Chapel Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Leonard Neal and Frank (Judy) Neal; and seven siblings, Ernest Neal, Floyd Neal, George Neal, Ester Neal, Irene Irby, Laurie Addington and Gertrude Deborde.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Katherine McClaskey, of Ironton; daughter-in-law, Janet Neal, of Ironton; seven grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery wih military rites provided by VFW Post 8850, and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
