Slow start too much for Redwomen to overcome

PEDRO — The start and finish were the problem, not the between.
The Rock Hill Redwomen managed only three points in the first quarter and two in the fourth quarter as they dropped their season opener 43-29 to the New Boston Lady Tigers on Monday.
New Boston took a 10-3 first quarter lead as Lexus Oiler scored six points and Sammy Oiler hit a 3-pointer. Rylie Morris had a basket and Makayla Scott a foul shot for Rock Hill.
Rock Hill’s offense came to life in the second quarter with 16 points and cut the deficit to 24-19 at the half.
Morris pumped in 10 points including a pair of free throws to spark the comeback.
Kenzie Whitley hit a 3-pointer and scored seven points for the Lady Tigers.
Whitley made another trifecta and scored seven more points while Sammy Oiler hit her second triple and the lead was 34-27.
Kenzie Hanshaw scored all four of her points in the quarter for Rock Hill.
Then came another cold quarter for the Redwomen as Kelsey Olderham scored the lone basket as New Boston outscored Rock Hill 9-2.
Morris had 14 points for the Redwomen who were only 5-of-16 at the foul line.
Lexus Oiler and Whitley had 14 points each for New Boston while Sammy Oiler added nine.
