GALLIPOLIS — You says it’s not how you start?
The Gallipolis Blue Angels beg to differ s they jumped out to a 20-2 first quarter lead and went on to beat the Rock Hill Redwomen 63-37 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Hunter Copley scored 25 points to go with eight rebounds and five assists as Gallipolis remained unbeaten (3-0, 1-0).
Maddy Petro had 17 points and 17 rebounds while Brooklyn Hill scored 13 points.
Rileigh Morris had 11 points and Makayla Scott 10 to pace Rock Hill (0-2, 0-1). Kenzie Hanshaw had six rebounds while Savannah Cade added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Copley hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 12 points in the first quarter with Petro adding six and it was 20-2. Kelsey Olderham had Rock Hill’s lone basket.
Both teams scored 15 points in the second quarter and it was 35-17 at the half. Scott and Morris combined for 11 points in the quarter while Petro and Copley scored five each.
Petro scored six points and Hill hit a 3-pointer as she got five points and Gallipolis extended its lead to 53-27. Scott and Morris scored four each.
The teams matched points again in the fourth quarter with 10 each.
On Thursday, Rock Hill hosts Chesapeake and Gallipolis is at Ironton.
