GALLIPOLIS — There’s more to the Gallipolis Blue Devils than Zach Loveday.
But, the 7-foot-1 Loveday is still nice to have.
Loveday had 18 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots as Gallipolis beat the Rock Hill Redmen 64-33 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday.
Logan Blour had 13 points and three assists while Cory Call added 11 points and three assists as the Blue Devils improved to 3-1 and 1-0 in the OVC.
Braden Stamper had 17 points including four 3-pointers for the Redmen (3-1, 0-1). Logan Hankins had six rebounds.
Jake Blagg had four assists, four steals and six points for the Redmen but 6-foot-4 leading scorer Kadin France was held without a point by Loveday.
Stamper hit a pair of 3-pointers and the Redmen trailed just 10-8 at the end of the first quarter.
But Gallipolis held Rock Hill for six points — four by Garrett Miller — pulled away to a 26-14 halftime lead.
Loveday scored 11 points in the third quarter as the Blue Devils opened up a 48-22 cushion.
On Friday, Rock Hill hosts Chesapeake and Gallipolis visits Ironton.
