Remy Meeks

Sept. 23, 1925 — Dec. 16, 2018

Remy Horton Meeks, 93, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at the New Albany Care Center Bellacare Hospice in Columbus. The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 23, 1925, a son of the late Fred and Leila Horton Meeks. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Leah Jane Rist Meeks, whom he married Oct. 18, 1952.
Mr. Meeks was a 1944 graduate of Ironton High School and a former supervisor at the Dayton Malleable Ironton Company for more than 40 years, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of the Ironton First Church of the Nazarene, where he was the choir director for more than 30 years. He was also a Sunday school teacher for more than 40 years and served on the Central Ohio Church of the Nazarene Board.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilmont Meeks and Paul Gene Meeks; and a sister, Virginia “Betty Jo” Kelley.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Michael (Pamela) Meeks, of Gahanna; a sister, Gail Stout, of Ironton; a sister-in-law, Linda Meeks; three grandchildren, Joel (Bonnie) Meeks, of Gahanna, Matthew (Jennifer) Meeks, of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Ashley (Adam) Calvin, of Grove City; and five grandchildren, Noah Meeks, Adler Meeks, Anniston Meeks Brady Meeks and Austin Calvin.
Funeral services will be noon Wednesday at Ironton First Church of the Nazarene with pastor Rob Hale officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Ricky Martin

Oct. 25, 1952 — Dec. 17, 2018

Ricky W. Martin, 66, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Oct. 25, 1952, a son of the late Roy Edwin and Genevieve Mowery Martin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean Martin.
Ricky was a graduate of Ironton High School and a former employee of AK Steel, retiring in 2014. He enjoyed collecting coins, his puppies, and loved NASCAR, flea markets and working on his cow farm.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a stepson, Aaron Justice; and a stepmother, Lois Martin.
He is survived by three daughters, Tara (John) Hammonds and Jesse Martin, both of Ironton, and Tracy (Brady) Brown, of South Point; a brother, Jim Martin; two sisters, Cindy (Dave) Stanwick and Deanna Martin; a sister-in-law, Shirley King; a brother-in-law, Ray (Ellen) Remy; and nine grandchildren, Katelyn Ferguson, Luke Ferguson, Clay Ferguson, Austin Hammonds, Brittany Hammonds, Beth Ann Brown, Zane Brown, Emilia Martin and Addison Martin.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Chad Pemberton officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point, and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Robert Blair

Jan. 18, 1962 — Dec. 15, 2018

Robert “Bobby” Raymond Blair, 56, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Ironton native was born Jan. 18, 1962, a son of the late George Blair and Marjorie Crawford Blair Russell. He is survived by his wife, Leslie Jadine Brickey Blair, whom he married April 17, 1995.
Bobby was a graduate of Ironton High School and a former roofer with the Briden Roofing Company. He loved his dogs, Fisty, Butterball, Bandit, Bella and Howie. He also loved riding motorcycles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Blair and David Blair.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Zach (Amber) Ball, Jimmy Turvey and Aaron Turvey; a daughter, Jordan Blair; a stepson, Zack (Krystina) Scior; four brothers, John Dameron, Jim (Betty) Dameron, George Blair Sr. and Steve (Mary Tracy) Blair; two sisters, Cynthia Stapleton and Norma (Richard) Salyers; and two step-grandchildren, Kaylee Scior and Tanner Scior.

Betty Kline

Aug. 18, 1931 — Dec. 16, 2018

Betty Joyce Lee Johnson Kline, 87, passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at her home. She was born Aug. 18, 1931, to the late Roy Johnson and Amanda Nance Johnson England. She was the widow of Fred Kline. She was a member of St. Lawrence Church of Ironton.
She was preceded in death by son, John Francis Kline; granddaughter, Jessica McGlone; sister-in-law, Rose and John Hacker; and brother-in-law, Paul Kline.
Survivors include children, Fred Kline, Daniel and Kim Kline, Jerry Kline and Sheila and John Gagai; grandchildren, Daniel (Rick) Kline, Danielle and Adam Stigers, Nick and Alba Gagai, Dennis and Miko Gagai, Logan Kline and Amy and Phil Stephenson; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Bill Johnson; brother-in-law, Jim and Carolyn Kline; and sister, Ann (Joe) Freeman.
