Estella Curry

Estella R. Curry, 87, of South Point, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at her residence. Mrs. Curry was born Jan. 1, 1931, in Portsmouth, a daughter to the late John H. and Grace M. (Smith) Gannon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Curry, in 1987.
Mrs. Curry graduated from Marshall University and Ohio University with a master’s degree in psychology. She retired this year from the Lawrence County Board of Education, where she was a school psychologist for 58 years. In addition to loving her job and being able to touch a lot of lives along the years, she enjoyed yard work, especially working in her flower garden, and loved to travel. She was a member of Solida Baptist Church in South Point.
She is survived by three sons, Mike (Nonie) Curry and David (Kellie) Curry, both of South Point, and Rick “Carl” (Mary) Curry, of LaSalle, Michigan; daughter, Carla Wise, of South Point; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Woodland Cemetery with Brother Scott Mann officiating. There will be no public visitation and Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
