PROCTORVILLE — The Fairland Dragons don’t seem to be slowing down.
Despite losing all five starters from last season, the Dragons ran their record to 5-1 with a 60-31 romp over the Huntington Highlanders on Friday.
Aiden Porter scored 15 points and Clayton Thomas got 14 as the Dragons shot 22-of-34 for a sizzling 64.7 percent from the field.
Fairland started the game with a 6-0 run and never looked back.
The lead was 14-5 on a 3-pointer by Thomas with 2:24 left in the quarter and Jacob Polcyn’s basket at the buzzer pushed the lead to 18-8.
The scoring slowed down in the second quarter as Fairland outscored Huntington 8-7 and it was 26-15 at the half.
Fairland’s defense went to work in the third quarter by holding the Highlanders to just two points.
Porter’s 3-pointer followed by baskets by Ian Chinn and Polcyn extended the lead to 33-15. Garrick Hopkins made two foul shots for Huntington at the 5:16 mark, but would be the Highlanders final points of the quarter.
Polcyn then hit a basket, Clayton Thomas knocked down a trey and Austin Gartin scored to make it 43-17 with 1:59 left in the third quarter.
The score went unchanged until Thomas hit another 3-pointer with 6:35 to play and the lead was 46-17.
Huntington finally scored again on a basket by Tanner Stevens with 5:56 left and it was now 46-19.
A basket by Andy Lang with 1:25 left gave Fairland its biggest lead at 58-27.
Hopkins had nine points to lead Huntington (2-2).
Fairland plays at the Dublin Jerome Tournament next Friday and Saturday.
