Ruth Crawford

Ruth Ann Crawford, 78, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Crawford was born April 18, 1940, in Lawrence County, a daughter to the late Claude R. and Nancy Mae (Mays) Chapman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, George Kenneth Crawford, who passed away Oct. 31, 2003.
Mrs. Crawford attended Rock Hill High School and was a homemaker. Ruth was very patriotic, and proudly served as the president of the VFW Post 8850 Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth was very loving and devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also an excellent caregiver to her husband for many years after his stroke. Her love and willingness to help others will be greatly missed. She was of the Christian faith and formerly attended 10th Street Tabernacle Church and Ohio Furnace Enterprise Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Smith; and a brother, Claude “Boo” Chapman.
She is survived by six children, Robin (Bob) Klaiber Evans, Donnie (Paulette) Klaiber, Greg (Kelli) Klaiber, Bill J. (Teresa) Klaiber, Lisa (Bobby) Gentile and Tonya R. (Matt) Klaiber Malone; 14 grandchildren, special granddaughter, Misty Dawn Evans, Bobby Evans, Shana Fraley, special caregiver and granddaughter, Savannah Wise, Torie Klaiber, Hunter Klaiber, Katherine Russell, Will Klaiber, Dominic Gentile, Sofia Gentile, Bella Gentile, Mattie Malone, Macy Malone and Marlee Malone; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Pastor Steve Harvey and Brother Kenny Klaiber officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
