Udel Salyers

Udel (Delawder) Salyers, born July 16, 1936, in Coal Grove, where she attended school and is still a proud Hornet, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center, Ashland, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Leonard and Myrtle (Stapleton) Delawder.
Udel was an active member of the Boyd County Senior Citizens Center in Catlettsburg, Kentucky for over 20 years. She was also a dedicated employee of Armco Steel. Udel was honored to be known as “Granny” to all.
She will be greatly missed by her immediate family, Lisa (Mays) Daily and her husband, Jack, their daughter, Bethany (Daily) Childers, and husband, Drew, and their children, Jackson and Bellamy; Kathy (Mays) Woodrum and husband, John Steven, their two children, Jeremy Woodrum and wife, Jessica, and their son, Jacob; Brandi (Woodrum) Duran and husband, JD, and their son, Sammy.
Udel loved her large family. She was a twin and one of 13 children. She enjoyed being surrounded by her many nieces and nephews. She also had an extended family of friends at the Grandview Manor in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, where she resided.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Don Zornes officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
