Plenty of players’ contributions help Lady Vikings get win over Lady Rebels

WILLOW WOOD — A lot of players were doing a lot of things so that the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings could get a lot of points.
The Lady Vikings got plenty of contributions as they beat the South Gallia Lady Rebels 68-49 on Friday.
Rachael Hayes scored 20 points to go with three assists and three steals for the Lady Vikings (6-2).
Jenna Malone had 14 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots while Taylor Sells had 10 points, 11 rebounds and three blocked shots.
South Gallia had three players in double figures as Jessica Rutt scored 15 points and both Faith Poling and Kiley Stapleton got 13.
The Lady Vikings managed to jump out to a 20-11 first quarter lead and never looked back.
Hayes had six points, Malone five and Littlejohn four to lead a balanced attack.
Five different players scored for the Lady Rebels.
The lead grew to 32-18 by halftime as Sells had four points and Malone hit a 3-pointer in the second quarter. Stapleton and Poling had three points each for South Gallia.
Symmes Valley opened up some distance between the two teams in the third quarter by taking a 52-31 lead.
Hayes had a 3-pointer and scored nine points while Sells and Malone added four each and Deer hit a 3-pointer.
Rutt got seven points and Poling added four more in the quarter for the Lady Rebels.
Stapleton hit a 3-pointer and scored seven points while Rutt added a pair of treys as South Gallia outscored the Lady Vikings 18-16.
Hayes hit a trifecta and had five points while Kelsi Gothard added a triple for the Lady Vikings who were 4-of-8 from the foul line in the quarter.
Symmes Valley was 11-of-22 at the free throw line for the game while the Lady Rebels were just 16-of-36.
The Lady Vikings shot 26-of-60 from the field for the game including 5-of-12 from behind the arc.
Symmes Valley hosts New Boston on Thursday.
