Delores Haas

Jan. 26, 1931 — Jan. 3, 2019

Delores I. Haas, 87, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital, Russell, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born on Jan. 26, 1931, a daughter of the late Averill H. and Anna M. Dickess Bayliss. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Franklyn Haas, who passed away Jan. 28, 2018.
Mrs. Haas was a 1949 graduate of Coal Grove High School. She was a former front desk clerk for Holiday Inn and an operator for the General Telephone Company. She was also a cashier for Bartram’s Grocery and was of the Christian faith.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Franklyn Haas.
She is survived by a daughter, Kathy McGinnis, of Ironton; a son, Thomas A. Hogan Haas, of Ironton; a granddaughter, Katelyn (Kyle) Barcroft, of Hilliard; a grandson, Derek “Bo” McGinnis, of Ironton; and five great-grandchildren, Kali Barcroft, Keira Barcroft, Eden McGinnis, Brendan McGinnis and Keegan McGinnis.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton, with pastor Don Woolum officiating. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

Betty Bryant

March 9, 1929 — Jan. 4, 2019

Betty J. Bryant, 89, of Ironton, passed away Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at Edgewood Manor Nursing Facility, Lucasville. The South Vienna native was born March 9, 1929, a daughter of the late Frank and Alverna (Cron) Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Billy Bryant.
Mrs. Bryant graduated from Hanging Rock High School and spent her life caring for her family. Betty was of the Baptist faith and formerly attended Ohio Baptist and 13th Street Baptist churches.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Thomas and Virginia Clester; and a brother, Roger Hoffman.
Betty is survived by a son, Roger Bryant, of Ironton; grandchildren, Crystal Bryant, of Ironton, and William Andrew Bryant, of Williamsburg, Kentucky; two sisters, Alice Faye Carrico, of Glendale, Arizona, and Rite Loy, of Springfield; two brothers, Ralph Hoffman, of Springfield, and Jimmy Hoffman, of Springfield; and a niece, Jessica Burke, of Ironton.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with Brother Chad Pemberton officiating. Visitation will be noon until the time of the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Dolores Hanichen

Dec. 29, 1929 — Jan. 4, 2019

Dolores Hanichen, 89, of Ironton, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2019, at St. Luke’s Hospital in the Woodlands, Texas. She was born Dec. 29, 1929, the daughter of the late Henry and Helen Madden Geswein.
Dolores was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the C.W.C. and a graduate of St. Joseph High School, Class of 1947. In 1950, she worked as a secretary at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, from 1958 untl 1984 for Tomko Buick and then the Lawrence County Courthouse Board of Elections, retiring in 1995.
She was the widow of Robert Hanichen. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Bob Geswein.
Survivors include one son, Michael Hanichen, of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Joan Hanichen, of Conroe, Texas; one granddaughter, Holly (Cody) Murray; one great-grandson, Tate Murray, of Willis, Texas; one brother, Richard (Donna) Geswein, of Waterloo; one sister, Jane (Paul) Markins, of Napoleon; one sister-in-law, Lela Geswein, of Ironton; and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be noon Saturday at St. Joseph Church with Fr. David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Craig Dillon

April 22, 1948 — Dec. 29, 2018

Craig Martin Dillon, 70, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2018, at KDMC, Ashland, Kentucky. He was born April 22, 1948, in Logan, son of the late George Clay Jr. and Betty Bishop Dillon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, George Clay Dillon III.
He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church, Ironton, and a retired foreman from the Florida Division of Forestry.
He is survived by two sons, Tyler Dillon, of Ironton, and Matthew (Amy) Dillon, of Bowling Green, Kentucky; two daughters, Tiffany Parsons, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Brittany (Max) Pellegrino, of Bradenton, Florida; grandson, Will Parsons; two granddaughters, Madelyn Dillon and Shaylyn Dillon; one brother, Rod (Sharon) Dillon, of Ironton; one sister, Karen (Steve) Layne, of Ironton; several nieces and nephews; and special lifelong friend, Mary Davis, of Ironton.
