Fourth quarter woes costly to Redwomen

PEDRO — Murphy’s Law took over.
The Rock Hill Redwomen were leading by nine points heading into the fourth quarter when everything started to go wrong as the Galllipolis Blue Angels rallied for a 45-42 Ohio Valley Conference win on Thursday.
Rock Hill took a 13-9 first quarter lead as five different players scored including four points by Rileigh Morris.
Mandy Petro had seven points for Gallipolis (6-9, 2-6).
The Redwomen (2-10, 0-8) extended the lead to 21-13 at the half as Kelsey Olderham, Makayla Scott, Aleigha Matney and Morris all got buckets.
The lead went to 32-23 after three quarters thanks to a pair of 3-point goals by Savannah Cade and four points form Kenzie Hanshaw including two free throws.
But in the fourth quarter, Rock Hill was outscored 22-10 by the Blue Angels.
The Redwomen got baskets from Autumn Porter and Scott with Morris scoring six points on two baskets and 2-for-4 foul shooting.
Junon Ohmara scored all 12 of her points in the quarter including a trifecta and 3-of-4 at the foul line. Petro had seven more points and she was 3-of-6 from the line.
The Blue Angels were 6-of-16 at the line in the quarter.
Morris led Rock Hill with 12 points. Scott and Cade added eight points each.
On Monday, Rock Hill visits Chesapeake and Gallipolis hosts Ironton.
