The Rev. John Weise

March 7, 1931 — Jan. 9, 2019

Known as “Father Jack” and dearly loved by all who knew him. He was born March 7, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He died peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2019, at Goodwin House, Alexandria, Virginia.
He is survived by brother, B. Gen. William Weise, USMC (Retired); nephews, nieces, grand and great-grand-nephews and nieces.
He was predeceased by parents, George Albert and Georgia Caroline; brother, George Albert Jr.; and sister, Marjorie Eleanor Miller.
He was a U.S. Army sergeant from 1952-1954. He graduated from Salisbury University in 1959, and Nashotah House Seminary in 1962. He was ordained an Episcopal Priest in 1962, and served God and mankind in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.
Requiem Eucharist will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Grace Episcopal Church, Alexandria, Virginia. Carol Blair

Aug. 7, 1938 — Jan. 15, 2019

Carol J. Blair, 80, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019, at a local health care facility. The Ironton native was born Aug. 7, 1938, a daughter of the late James and Ruby Moore Bennett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Blair.
Carol attended Ironton High School, was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a homemaker.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, John Lee Blair, who passed away in 1976.
She is survived by a daughter, Vicki (Herbert) Redman, of Huntington, West Virginia; two sons, Jack Ray Blair, of Franklin Furnace, and John Paul Blair, of Ironton; one brother, Gerald Bennett, of Ironton; one sister, Maxine Bowman, of Ironton; and two grandchildren, Hannah and Joshua Redman, of Huntington, West Virginia.

Mary French

Mary Elizabeth “Wilson” French, 60, of Pedro, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at Community Hospice of Ashland, Kentucky. She was born in Ironton, the daughter of Willa M. Wilson and the late James E. Wilson.
She attended Rock Hill schools and was employed in the health care field as an STNA for many years. She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Pine Grove in her childhood life.
She is survived by her mother, Willa; her fiancé, Leroy “Dink” Dalton, of Ripley; and her beloved sons, Eric (Cherish) Wilson, of Rush, Kentucky, and Ryan (Kari) French, of Ironton. She was a loving grandmother “Grammy” to four grandsons, Ethan, Peyton, Landen and Cooper Wilson, of Ironton; three brothers, William (Evelyn) Wilson, of West Portsmouth, David (Patty) Wilson, of Washington Court House, and Ron Wilson, of Pedro; and two sisters, Iris Miller, of Waterloo, and Helen Wilson, of Huntington, West Virginia. She is also survived by many loved cousins, nieces and nephews. Her special friends for many years were also be her bedside as she departed this life, Sharon, Brenda, Kathy, Connie and Lori.
As her request for cremation, there will be no funeral service at this time, but a celebration of life will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16 at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton, with Fr. David Huffman officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Pine Grove. O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton, is handling arrangements. Nicholas McMahon

May 13, 1929 — Jan. 16, 2019

Nicholas G. McMahon, 89, of Ironton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. Nick was born May 13, 1929, in Ironton, son of the late Nicholas and Clara (Roetting) McMahon.

Frances Adams
Frances Aileen Short Waddle Adams, 83, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019. She is survived by her husband, Charley Adams.
