Lady Dragons come alive to beat Meigs

PROCTORVILLE — Now that’s how you come to life.
Having scored just 23 points through three quarters and trailing by five points, the Fairland Lady Dragons came to life and rallied past the Meigs Lady Marauders 47-43 on Saturday at the Tri-State Hoops Throwdown.
The scoring was slow to come in each of the first three quarters before the pace picked up in the fourth.
Becca Pullins had four points in the first quarter as Meigs went up 7-6. Kelsie Warnock had four points for Fairland.
Marissa Noble and Pullins scored five points each and both had a 3-pointer as the Lady Marauders made it 17-15 at the half.
Jenna Stone had a trey while Jessica King, Miaa Howard and Warnock all got two points in the quarter for Fairland (11-3).
Meigs (8-7) extended its lead to 28-23 after the third quarter as Madison Fields scored four points, Betzing had a 3-pointers and Mallory Hawley was 3-of-4 at the line.
The Dragons stayed close as Brittany Thompson hit a trifecta, Allie Marshall hit three free throws and Warnock sank two more.
Then came the fourth quarter.
Marshall scored nine points and went 3-of-4 at the line, Stone had another triple and scored five points, Emma Marshall hit a 3-pointers, Harley Lyons was 4-for-4 at the line and Warnock 3-of-8.
Fairland was 10-of-16 at the foul line in the quarter.
Pullins drained two more 3-pointers, Noble hit a trey, Hawley scored three points, Betzing was 2-of-2 at the line and Taylor Swartz made a foul shot for the Meigs scoring.
For the game, the Lady Dragons converted 19-of-31 free throws.
Allie Marshall led Fairland with 12 points and Warnock scored 11. Stone added eight points and Lyons chipped in six.
Pullins scored a game-high 16 points for Meigs. Noble added eight and Betzing seven.
Fairland played at Coal Grove on Monday.
