SOUTH POINT — The big girl in the middle played big.
Ashley Perkey scored 20 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, handed out three assists and had three steals to lead the South Point Lady Pointers to a 56-21 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Gallipolis Blue Angels on Monday.
“Ashley had a great game. She’s played hard all season,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.
Emilee Carey finished with 13 points and five steals while Kate Mundy added 10 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Pointers (13-4, 8-3).
Mandy Petro and Chasity Adams scored eight points each for Gallipolis (6-12, 2-9).
South Point raced to an 17-3 first quarter lead as Carey hit a pair of 3-pointers and Maddy Khounlavong knocked down another.
The lead ballooned to 36-7 at intermission with Perkey scoring nine points as five different plays scored in the quarter.
South Point slowed the pace in the third quarter and went up 47-17 as Emilee Whitt drained a pair of treys.
Petro had five points while Adams hit a 3-pointer for Gallipolis in the quarter.
On Thursday, South Point visits Ironton and Gallipolis is at Fairland.
