Thundering Herd returns home to take on UTEP

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall men’s basketball returns home after a three-game road swing to take on the UTEP Miners Thursday night.
HAVE YOU HERD
Jon Elmore is now the all-time leader in program history in assists and made threes after his performance at Southern Mississippi.
The Herd has made a three-pointer in 900 consecutive games.
Darius George collected his first game with 10 or more points for the first time since November in the loss at Southern Mississippi.
Marshall had season-lows of 51 points, points in a half with 20 in the second, and 25 percent shooting from the field in the loss to Southern Mississippi.
SCOUTING THE MINERS
UTEP comes into Huntington with a 7-12 record and is coming off a home win against Charlotte on Saturday.
The Miners are 0-7 away from El Paso this season.
They shoot 42 percent from the field and average 65.2 points per game.
UTEP has a 0.6 rebounding margin as it brings down 36 boards per contest.
WHO TO KNOW
Evan Gilyard is the team’s leading scorer with 16.4 points per game. Gilyard is second on the team in steals with 15 and has shot 42.3 percent from the field this season.
Efe Odigie is second on the Miners with 13.1 points per contest. He leads the team in rebounding by bringing down 9.4 rebounds per game. He’s third in blocked shots with 11.
SERIES HISTORY
The Herd is 5-11 all-time against UTEP and took last year’s meeting in El Paso.
