Keating, Melvin named Valentine royalty at dance
Residents of a local nursing home received an early Valentine’s Day treat on Tuesday.
Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley hosted a Valentine’s dance, giving those at the home a chance to enjoy the holiday.
As part of the festivities, staff voted for a king and queen of the dance.
Chosen as queen was Betty Melvin, who was surprised at the honor.
“I’m the what?” she asked incredulously when told of the choice.
Joining her as king was retired railroad worker George Keating.
Resident were also treated to a meal and enjoyed oldies music.
Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley is located at 2932 S. 5th St. in Ironton and its parent company has four locations in Ohio.
