New congregate dining partner for seniors

Seniors in Lawrence County who participate in the congregate dining service at the Park Avenue Apartments in Ironton and the Senior Center Chesapeake satellite locations will soon have a new food service contractor.

Congregate dining is a service that provides a nutritious, safe and appealing meal in a group setting. Congregate meal services in Lawrence County have been coordinated through the Ironton-Lawrence Community Action Organization (CAO) and the Area Agency on Aging District 7, Inc. (AAA7) and made possible through federal Older Americans Act funding, the USDA Nutrition Services Incentive Program, participant donations, and a local matching funds requirement. These services have been most recently prepared by the kitchen site at the Park Avenue Apartments.

In a collaborative effort between the Ironton-Lawrence CAO, AAA7, and Dave and Brenda’s Catering of New Boston, Dave and Brenda’s Catering will begin providing individual meals to participants at both sites beginning on March 4th in Lawrence County on the scheduled days of service. The Park Avenue Apartment site will receive meals Monday through Friday, and the Chesapeake site on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Serving times will remain the same.
