PEDRO — OK, today’s your turn.
Each game it seems that a different player comes up with the clutch play or hit for the Rock Hill Redwomen.
It was no different on Friday as the Redwomen got a run in the seventh inning and beat the Heath Lady Bulldogs 5-4.
“We’ve got different girls stepping up and contributing each night,” said Rock Hill coach Brooke Long.
“Again, we are really proud of the girls. They are battling here early in the season and really seem to have each other’s backs.”
Grace Stevens continued her hot-hitting by going 4-4. Makenzie Hanshaw was 2-3 with a home run and three runs batted in as Rock Hill had 11 hits.
Kylee Howard struck out two, walked three and scattered 11 hits to get the win.
Rock Hill (4-0) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a single by Stevens and Hanshaw’s two-run homer.
The lead was 3-0 in the second when Keilie Adams towering pop fly to short right field was dropped for a two-base error. Sam Stamper put down a sacrifice bunt and Kelsey Olderhan had an RBI single.
The Lady Bulldogs scored twice to cut the deficit to 3-2 in the third only to have the Redwomen go up 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth when Adams cranked her first career home run.
Heath got two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game, but Rock Hill answered with the winning run in the bottom of the inning.
Stevens and Howard got two-out singles and Hanshaw reached on an error as Stevens scored.
