PEDRO — There’s no hatin’ Peighton. Well, maybe if you’re the opposing team.
Peighton Rowe was getting love from her teammates on Wednesday as she drove in three runs to back the one-hit pitching of Keegan Moore as the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers blanked the Rock Hill Redwomen 10-0 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.
Rowe was 1-3 with a double as Ironton had 10 hits. Mary Beth Burton was 2-2 with an RBI as nine different players had hits.
Ironton (8-1, 4-0) jumped ahead 2-0 in the first inning.
Mary Beth Burton walked, Taiya Hamlet singled and Keegan Moore reached on an error as both runners scored.
The Lady Tigers extended the lead to 6-0 in the second.
Haylee Stevens singled to lead off the inning and Kiandra Martin and Burton singled for a run. Peighton Rowe then doubled to drive in the two runners.
After the second out, Demi Sands capped the rally with an RBI double.
Ironton added a run in the fourth to lead 7-0 on singles by Martin and Burton and Rowe’s RBI ground out.
Riley Schreck took care of the fifth inning scoring as she belted a home run after a double by Moore.
Rock Hill’s only hits were singles by Mackenzie Hanshaw and Grace Stevens.
