Explosion closes street in Ashland
ASHLAND — Part of Winchester Avenue in Ashland was closed Monday morning, as police and fire crews responded to an explosion at a gas station on the street.
“Due to a small explosion of fuel storage tanks at Sunoco gas station at 22nd Street and Winchester Avenue downtown, the area is closed to traffic,” police said in a statement posted to social media.
Smoke was seen billowing from a hole as crews arrived on scene.
The street was closed for two hours, as fire crews blocked the roadway with hoses and equipment and an investigation was conducted. No one was reported injured in the explosion.
