Dragons clinch OVC; Looney fires no-hitter

PROCTORVILLE — Now that’s the way you want to clinch a league championship.
Garrett Looney pitched a no-hitter as the Fairland Dragons clinched a share of the Ohio Valley Conference baseball title by blanking the Gallipolis Blue Devils 5-0 on Wednesday.
Fairland is now 14-5 on the season and 11-2 in the league, one game ahead of Rock Hill with one game to play.
Looney struck out five and walked one as he fashioned his masterpiece. He also went 1-3 at the plate with a run batted in.
Gavin Hunt had a big offensive game as he went 3-4 with an RBI. Tucker Adkins was 1-2 and two walks.
Andrew Toler and Cole Davis combined on a five-hitter for Gallipolis. Toler gave up three earned runs, three hits, struck out four and walked four.
Davis gave up two hits, one earned run with one strikeout and one walk.
