COAL GROVE — The Coal Grove Lady Hornets were bottled up for five innings. And then they just exploded.
The Lady Hornets trailed 4-1 when their offense came to life and scored seven runs en route to a 10-6 win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.
Jaiden Griffith and Addi Dillow did major damage as Coal Grove got 10 hits.
Griffith was 3-4 with a home run, a double and four runs batted in. Dillow also homered and drove in three runs.
Kaleigh Murphy was 2-3 while Amber Schwartz went 2-4 with two runs batted in.
Murphy got the pitching win in relief as she worked the final five innings. She gave up four hits, struck out five, did not walk a batter and two of the three runs she allowed were earned.
Chesapeake was led by Jordan Storms who was 2-4 with a pair of solo home runs. Ericka Bowman was 2-3 with a solo home run and Chloe Handley went 2-4.
