Joan Estep

Dec. 31, 1955 – May 6, 2019

Joan Ellen McClaskey Estep, went to be with her heavenly father on Monday, May 6, 2019, after a long battle with ALS, with her family beside her.

Joan was born Dec. 31, 1955, a daughter to Mary Jane Horn McClaskey and Clifford Eugene McClaskey.

She was a member of Jeffersonville Baptist Church in Coal Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents, Dolly Clifford McClaskey and Dovie Mae Locey McClaskey; maternal grandparents, Norma Ellen Adams Horn and George Horn; and grandson, Elijah.

She is survived by son, Joshua Aaron Estep, his wife, Shaine; grandchildren, Alex and his wife Miranda, Paige and Skylar Gibson and Aaron Estep; daughter, Tabitha Dawn (Don) Taylor; granddaughter, Mercedes Lynn; and son, Darren Emmett Coffman and his family; sisters, Debbie McClaskey Hankins, her husband Roger, and Sharon McClaskey Adams, her husband, Timothy; and several grandchildren, nephews and nieces, who will miss her.

According to her wishes, she will be cremated and a Memorial Service is being planned at a later date. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Brenda Stapleton

Brenda Stapleton, 61, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky.

Mrs. Stapleton was born Jan. 29, 1958, in Ironton, a daughter to Barbara (Campbell) Collins and the late Roy Jackson.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Timothy Stapleton.

Brenda was a graduate of Coal Grove High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed decorating, gardening and working in her flowers, and her greatest love was spending time with her family and friends. She was a member of Community Baptist Church.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Ray Stapleton
and a brother, Larry Jackson.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Amanda (John) Maynard;
a son, Adam (Misty) Stapleton; a step-father, Carl Collins, five grandchildren and eight siblings.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with the Rev. Travis Jackson officiating.

Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Chester Bostic

May 3, 2019

Chester D. “Chewey” Bostic, 57, of Springfield, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at his residence. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lorenzo and Alberta (Stapleton) Bostic; his brothers, Charles Eugene Cordle, Robert Cordle and Dave Cordle; and his sister Janet Cordle.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Fonda Bostic; daughters, Heather (Jerry) Chaney and Wendy (Zachary) Capper; brothers, James (Tuck) Cordle, Rodney (Tammy) Bostic, and Walter “Dino” (Geriann) Bostic; sisters, Joyce (Ronnie) Harmon, Chris (Glenn) Jenkins, Mary (Rick) Freeman, Faye Bostic (Don Ferrell), Debbie Crokrell and Tammy Bostic (Dickie Harber); grandchildren, Bridget Capper, Jerry Chaney Jr., Travis Dale Chaney, Hayley Chaney and Charlie Capper.

Chewey worked as a newspaper carrier in his youth and as a custodian at the Ironton Junior High School. He later worked at O.S. Kelly for 17 years and International Steel Wool for nine years.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-noon on Monday at the Jackson Lytle and Lewis Life Celebration Center, 2425 N. Limestone St., Springfield, Ohio.

A funeral service will follow at noon Monday at the funeral home. Pastor Chuck Graham will officiate and his brother-in-law, Glenn Jenkins, will read the obituary notice.

Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.

Hobert Knight

Hobert “Red” Clinton Knight, 95, of South Point, died on Tuesday, May 7, 2019.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Friday at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home in Chesapeake. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens in South Point. Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites.
