Homemakers to host quilt raffle: Fundraiser set for June 1 at South Point library
SOUTH POINT — The Lawrence County Homemakers will host a raffle for a quilt on Saturday, June 1 at the South Point branch of the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library.
The group is comprised of the Ohio Valley, Ensee and Southside clubs, and they are a nonprofit organization, Ann Dobbins, with the Homemakers, said.
She said one of the projects they are involved in making is turbans and “do-rags,” which are distributed free to those undergoing cancer treatment.
“They’re very colorful,” she said. “We’ve done about 4,000 of those.”
Dobbins said the group will be selling tickets for the large size “Tic-Tac-Toe” quilt at the library, beginning at 11 a.m. and that the event will run until 1 a.m.
“Our mayor, Jeff Gaskin, will draw the winning ticket,” she said, expecting that to take place after noon.
Refreshments will be offered and door prizes will be awarded during the event, Dobbins said.
